This trip report presents a selection of photographic portraits from our 10-day Bird-Photo-Tour in March 2026 spanning the Republic of Kiribati, from the Gilbert Islands in the west to the Line Islands in the east. While all countries in the Micronesian region offer encounters with seabirds, the coral atolls of Kiribati, home to numerous seabird breeding colonies, deliver truly breathtaking experiences. Photographers can capture a wide range of species, including Petrels, Storm-Petrels, Shearwaters, Frigatebirds, Noddies, Boobies, and Terns, often in spectacular settings of blue lagoons and pristine coral reefs. For anyone passionate about seabird photography, the Republic of Kiribati stands out as one of the premier destinations in the Pacific, combining abundant wildlife with stunning, unspoiled scenery.
